DAARSAT is launching
DAAR Communications launched its pay-TV service on digital terrestrial television in October 2008.The new service will allow customers to receive some of DAARSAT's most popular programming, including live Sports, Documentaries and Hollywood films.
DAARSAT's new Direct To Home [DTH] pay-TV offering will use High Definition technology to broadcast the channels
Customers will sign up through a dealer pay a monthly subscription to get the service through a conventional decoder/digital TV box.
To access the service, customers will have to buy a new set-top box or a Digital TV Combo unit that includes the relevant conditional access software and MPEG4 decoder - suggesting it will not be available via existing Freeview receivers.
Following the launch of the service other TV channels may be given the opportunity to deliver their TV service through the DAARSAT platform.
"By bringing back some of the World's most popular pay-TV content to the DTH platform, DAARSAT aims to create more choice for customers who are interested in upgrading from other platforms or networks," DAAR Communications said in a statement.
