Should I leave my DaarSat Box on standby?
Your DaarSat Box has been designed to ensure it is safe to be left on standby at all times. It is useful to leave your DaarSat Box plugged in as from time to time updated software is sent to your DaarSat Box from the satellite, providing you with DAARSAT’s latest services or functions. These updates are not possible if your box is unplugged.
-
How is my satellite signal received?
To receive DaarSat broadcast signals, your DaarSat Box satellite dish must be positioned correctly.
The system features an inch oval dish, which allows reception from all DAARSAT orbital locations. To receive signals from all of these locations, your DAARSAT satellite dish must be aligned by tilt as well as elevation and azimuth. Your dealer can arrange for a professional installer to ensure that this is carried out correctly.

Can I connect my DVD player to my DAARSAT box?
Yes, if your TV has two SCART sockets, follow these easy steps:
- Connect a SCART lead from the AV1 socket on the TV to the socket marked TV SCART on the DAARSAT Box.
- Connect a SCART lead from the socket marked VCR SCART on the DAARSAT Box to the AV1 socket on the VCR.
- Connect another SCART lead from the AV2 socket on the TV to the AV1 socket on the DVD player.
- Connect an RF cable from the aerial out socket on the VCR to the aerial in socket on the TV.
What is Dolby Surround Sound?
Dolby Surround transmissions make use of the two audio channels which are used in stereo TV broadcasts. In addition to the left and right channels they employ a centre channel for heightened ambience and special effects. The overall sensation is that of a 'soundfield' in front of, around and behind the viewer. Dolby is a trademark of Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corporation.
What is a wide screen movie?
Cinema screens have a wider shape than many TV screens, so when movies appear on TV you often miss about 30 per cent of the picture where the left and right sides of the image are cut off. The wide screen (letterbox) format, preferred by many film fans, displays movies on a television screen as they were originally intended to be seen by the films' directors. In order to fit the whole picture on the screen, the image has to be reduced which is why you see black bars at the top and bottom of the screen when you watch a wide screen movie on your TV. There is no extra charge for wide screen movies.
Does the weather interfere with a digital satellite signal?
The DAARSAT digital satellite signal is highly reliable year-round and nationwide. It's only minimally affected by the weather, and usually only in extreme conditions. DAARSAT TV delivers a digital signal 99.96% of the time, rain or shine.
